The Health Care and Social Assistance industry is the largest employment industry in Australia. The sector offers a range of potential education and employment pathways. Projections for this industry are expected to continue to rise over the next 5 years, along with the potential for approximately 9,000 additional jobs. Employment and training demand for these occupations has increased due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These demands are likely to grow further due to the ageing population and government priorities.

This course is designed for those interested in building English language skills for employment or further education in the health and community support services sector, while developing the confidence to prepare for jobs in these important industries.

  • Our courses & eligibility

    Bridge Darebin offers some courses, known as ACFE, that receive a state government subsidy through the Adult, Community and Further Education Board for eligible students. To be eligible for ACFE funding you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or an Australian permanent resident, not engaged in full-time work or enrolled in secondary school. Please bring your Green Medicare Card or Concession card. If you do not meet the requirements for an ACFE funded place, you will be subject to paying the full fee, please contact the office to discuss: 03 9484 5806. Please note that in the 2021 eligibility: Asylum seekers in specified visa categories, referred by Jobs Victoria Employment Network providers to pre-accredited preemployment programs are eligible for ACFE funded programs. Click here for more information on ACFE eligibility. Other courses, known as house programs, are not generally subsidised. Our courses generally run to the school term or the semester. Some courses can be commenced after the start date.

  • How to enrol

    Students can download an enrolment form online or complete an enrolment form at our offices. We require payment and completed enrolment details to secure your place in a course.

  • Payment details

    Credit card and EFTPOS are our preferred payment methods at this time, and we accept payments by bank transfer and cash. We also accept weekly direct debits (external transaction fees apply). Please note that your credit card statement will show SOCIAL PLANET MORNINGTON as the payee for courses paid for through our website.

  • Course materials

    We will advise students prior to course commencement if there are course material fees to be paid. This is a separate payment, in addition to the course fee, unless otherwise stated.

  • Refunds

    There are no refunds for courses or missed sessions. In situations of financial hardship or exceptional circumstances, students can apply to Operations Manager Catriona Herz at opsmanager@bridgedarebin.org.au

  • Cancellations

    Course commencement is subject to sufficient enrolments – minimum and maximum class sizes apply to all courses. In the event of a course cancellation all fees will be refunded in full by direct payment to your nominated bank account. Our fees policy can be provided on request.

  • Child care

    Bridge Darebin provides occasional childcare services in Thornbury. On-site child care is available to support parents/grandparents studying at Bridge Darebin. We are registered for the Child Care Subsidy; up to 85% of childcare fees may be claimed by eligible families. Visit education.gov.au/ChildCarePackage to confirm your eligibility.

    We are closed on public holidays. Some courses may operate during school holidays; your tutor will advise if this is the case.
